The Spanish men’s national team has closed out the 2024–25 season with a third-place finish in the regular season and a silver medal at the World Finals in Los Angeles.
Spain fell to South Africa in the final, 5–19, but showed the strengths that have made them the most improved team in the top tier of Olympic rugby.
The Spanish side stayed competitive in the final until midway through the second half. In the first half, they dominated possession, sticking to their strategy of keeping the ball as long as possible until finding a breakthrough.
Juan Ramos, Enrique Bolinches, Manu Moreno, Pol Pla, Josep Serres, Alejandro Laforga, and Eduardo Lopez made up the starting lineup, with Francisco Cosculluela, Angel Bozal, Tobias Sainz-Trápaga, Jeremy Trevithick, and Jaime Manteca coming off the bench. Antón Legorburu was not included in the matchday squad.
Spain topped their group to reach the semifinals after a close loss to Australia and victories over New Zealand and Fiji.
